What is Carers Week 2022?

Carers Week 2022 is an annual event that aims to spread awareness, love, and appreciation of you, the fantastic individuals who spend a large majority of their time looking after the well-being of others.

In particular, Carers Week 2022 is keen to raise awareness for unpaid carers who are looking after and providing for loved ones. Many unpaid carers make the mistake of not identifying as carers and therefore miss out on information and support.

This year, Discounts for Carers wants to put the spotlight on you, the Carers, and celebrate everything you’ve accomplished- no matter what setting it is that you care for someone. 

What is Carers Week 2022?

There are 7 million people in the UK that are carers – this includes those of you who care as a profession and those who look after family members and loved ones. Here at Discounts for Carers, we believe that the contribution of Carers isn’t recognised or celebrated enough. This is why we are so passionate about Carers Week 2022. 

Carers like you need to be recognised daily for your incredible work, and that is why we work hard to provide Carers with the best deals possible. It’s our small way of saying thank you. We are so proud of our members for everything they have (and will continue to) accomplish. That’s why we want to “Make Caring Visible” this Carers Week.

Who is a Carer? 

A carer refers to anyone who helps and supports another individual with activities of daily living, whether in a paid or unpaid setting. This can include family and friends caring for loved ones where they have no specific training, or in a professional care home and supported living environment. 

Our discounts are available to any type of carer who provides support to an individual who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, or who needs extra help as they grow older.

What to Expect from Carers Week 2022?

Carers Week 2022 takes place 6th-12th June, each day with a different focus. Here are some of the topics, information and support covered throughout the campaign. 

Monday 6th June – Launch Day: Health & Social Care Issues for Carers 

Tuesday 7th June – Employment and Work for Carers 

Wednesday 8th June – Let’s Make Caring Visible, Valued and Supported 

Thursday 9th June – Younger Carers

Friday 10th June – Older Carers 

Saturday 11th June – Carers Mental Health and Wellbeing 

Sunday 12th June – Reflections of Carers Week 2022
